In Philadelphia they believe John Newton is the best player in the league and right now he just might be. Newton's latest exploits include a 50 point game in a huge win against his former GM's South Florida outfit, a 37 point game against Seattle and a 33 point game in Portland. Newton dominated the last quarter against Portland after his American's trailed the Lumberjack's by nine points at the final break. Newton had the go ahead bucket late in the game for Philadelphia as they win a crucial game against another playoff hopeful.

Officials around the league have also taken a huge interest in the emerging superstar awarding the power forward with 3 of the last 4 Player of the Week Awards for the AMCON. After receiving his last award Newton said "it's great to be recognized for the way I'm playing right now and the work I've put in".

Just over a month ago the season looked over for Philadelphia which had a record of 12 wins and 29 losses but an away win in Anaheim, John Newton's scintillating form and the return of Renato Ardoin from injury sparked the American's to 13 wins in 18 games and now they find themselves just half a game from sitting in the playoffs as the seventh seed.

Renato Ardoin will miss more game time after another injury but the American's look willing to persevere. After a big home win against Seattle, Newton addressed Ardoin's injury saying "We just have to win as many games as we can without Renato. If we win a few without him it will make our run home a bit easier when he can play again". Ardoin is expected to return in 15 days against the Demons.

Philadelphia has 21 games left of their season and seven of those are against direct playoff rivals in the SunKings, Blackjacks, Lumberjacks and Invaders. Seven must win games and a home stretch that the American's can barely make a wrong step in order to seal a playoff birth.
