Chaos Mid-Season Report

The Chaos currently sit at the 8th seed in the American Conference if the playoffs started today. This is not where they expected to be at the beginning of the season. This is a let down and not an improvement over last season. Last year the Chaos were the 8th seed and were quickly eliminated by the Pioneers after 5 games. Just a month ago, the Chaos were nearly .500 and set up higher in the standings, but the losses have been racking up, despite great play from Geoffrey Askew and David Bouchard.

Long time All-Star and go to player, Lenny Davis, has been struggling and is showing obvious signs of pro basketball wear and tear. His days of stardom are long gone. Coach Taylor has kept Davis in the starting lineup most of the season, but sources say he is moving to the 6th man role and Andrew Culbertson will be taking his starting spot. Culbertson has been playing well in a reduced minute role, due to a life long stamina issue. Culbertson struggles with Asthma and has a hard time playing starters minutes. Coach Taylor hopes that a few more minutes from Culbertson might help with the rebounding woes the team has been experiencing, especially for second chance points. "We are being out rebounded by about 5 rebounds per game. A lot of those our on the offensive side. We need to try to correct that to win some of these close games", said Coach Augustus Taylor.

In some positive news, PG David Bouchard was honored by being selected to the All-Star team. This is well deserved, because he has been playing his best basketball of his career. He has always been a defensive beast. He continues to lead the league in steals(3.0 spg), but has been adding a lot of points(14.0 ppg) each game as well as dropping dimes(7.1 apg) to his teammates. This will be Bouchard's first All-Star appearance, which seems odd, because he has been a first team all-defense guy for years.

Coach Taylor has told us that he has made other slight depth chart and gameplan changes that people will probably notice, such as Matt Torres sitting further down the end of the bench, so to speak. The once prolific scorer has been hardly an influence for the team and will spend his last months as a Chaos player seeing very little time. We asked Coach Taylor about defense and he said, "Yeah, we've got to step it up a bit. Our press works well and teams will keep seeing it, probably a little more than before."

Hopefully the Chaos can start stringing more wins together or they will find themselves facing the #1 seed again.
