Chaos Draft And Season Outlook

The LA Chaos barley made the playoffs last season and that is probably the only reason that GM Whetzel still has a job. LA didn't go far in postseason as they had to face Kansas City right out of the gate. KC finished them off in 5 games. That sent the Chaos back home to try to figure out what they can do to improve for 2026. The good news was that the Chaos held the 13th pick in the draft. It's not a lottery pick, but still early enough to grab some talent. Surprisingly, GM Whetzel actually showed up and chose a 19 year old SF from San Diego State. Bryant Walsh was a 5 star athlete in high school. He played 1 year at San Diego State before entering the draft. Unlike last year's draft pick, Walsh will be ready to contribute right away. He is very athletic, quick and plays pretty good defense. The Chaos had a second round pick, but they traded it to the Archers for a second round pick next year.

Just prior to the draft, the Chaos traded PF/C Charles Ottinger to the Americans for SG/PG Frank Williams. The focus now will be on free agency and getting players like David Bouchard and Andrew Culbertson resigned. Bouchard is a regular First Team All-Defense guy and a back court of Bouchard and Williams could be a very tough defensive duo for most OBWL teams. Culbertson is still young and needs to develop more, but he could see a lot of playing time.

If the Chaos sign Bouchard and Culbertson, we could be looking at a starting lineup of Bouchard at PG, Williams at SG, Askew at PF, Davis at C and the SF could be Goforth, Beery or rookie Bryant Walsh. Chances are though that Whetzel will look to sign a veteran on a minimum contract to fill a spot like SF. That seems to be the one position that is a little weak in the Chaos lineup.
