Lumberjacks lift off

Portland, OR.

It’s been a long time since we have heard from Portland GM Trent, and for good reason. Although the Lumberjacks comically sit in the 8th spot in a terrible American conference, there is no disillusionment that things are suddenly sunny in Portland, its only always sunny in Philly, we all know that.

With yet another losing record our opportunity to be to be humiliated by the Pioneers is more to the fact that other teams are falling down around them – The term used in Australia is called the Bradbury (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fAADWfJO2qM please watch the link if you have not seen his amazing feat) It seems that The Bradbury is the inspiration behind the Portland GMs decision all along. What a genius!

In more serious and important news, the development of the youth is very promising, forget some of the kids we have moved on like Richardson, Lawler and Yoshida all balling in fairer climates. The guys we have kept are starting to blossom into the potential cornerstones of the franchise.

Desfontanies is finishing up his rookie contract and is primed for a pay day, he is getting career highs in Minutes, points, rebounds, shooting percentages and all round efficiency. It is hoped he will return to the Lumberjacks in the off season.

Melanson has been a standout yet again in his sophomore campaign, although drinking the colour coolade when drafted, he has more than repaid the faith shown in the organisation when drafting him. Portland need to get him more minutes so he can improve on his 16.9 points and 7.1 rebounds a game, while each night he is trying to add to his poster collection. Melanson has privately told teammates he wants to be the first person with more and ones than blocks.

The Russian has had a massive increase in output this season also. His minutes points, rebounds and assists have trended upwards in a massive way, after an injury set back at the start of the season, since Yevgeny returned to the starting line up the W’s returned to the Lumberjacks record. He has become a vital part of the team.

With these three demanding minutes and contracts Sage is the forgotten man, however, in the 18 mins a night off the bench his numbers of 6 pts and 4 reb as the last option is also very encouraging. Especially is Roger finds another home in the off season, the rebuild takes a hit, but the talent doesn’t.

So although, our position on the ladder is a fabrication of the real position of the team, it is not a stretch to think that in the next two / three seasons, the youth we have invested into and patiently waited for will allow us to claim that playoff spot genuinely.
